Your bids and school data
Bid sheets and school lists you open in Bidtally are read and processed by JavaScript in your browser. They are not uploaded to us or to anyone else, and we cannot see them or the results. Closing the tab discards them. Downloads are created in your browser and saved by your browser to your computer. The settings you type (applicant, dates, matrix) are remembered in your browser's local storage on that computer only.
The optional Form 470 lookup
When you type a Form 470 number and press "Look up on USAC", your browser requests the public record of that form from USAC's open data service (opendata.usac.org). Only the form number is sent; USAC publishes these records for everyone. We do not receive the request or the answer.
What our server receives
- Normal web requests to load the pages (IP address, browser, time), processed by Cloudflare, our hosting provider, in short-lived logs for security.
- When you buy, the Paddle transaction ID and the email used at checkout, which our server checks with Paddle to confirm the payment and issue your license key. The key contains the license tier, the applicant name you typed (if any), the expiry date, the transaction ID and a short reference.
Payments
Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record and processes your name, email, billing address and payment details under its own privacy notice (paddle.com/legal/privacy). We receive order details from Paddle to provide support and refunds.
Stored in your browser
Your license key and your settings are kept in your browser's local storage so you do not have to enter them again. Remove the key with "Remove from this browser" in the app, or clear the site data.
Counting visits, without tracking
To learn whether Bidtally is useful, our server keeps daily totals of five events: landing page viewed, sample opened, own bid sheet checked, checkout opened and purchase completed, each with the campaign tag of the link you came from (utm_source or ref, utm_campaign and utm_content, for example "email"). It stores no IP address, cookie, browser details, name, email address, file name or file content, so a total cannot be linked to you. Your IP address is used only for a moment to drop repeated or automated requests and is not stored. Your browser keeps a "sent" mark in session storage so a reload is not counted twice; it is deleted when you close the tab. Bidtally uses no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.

You can ask us for access, correction or deletion of personal data we hold (in practice, purchase records) at the email above, and you can complain to your data protection authority.
